Mobius

Mobius forms, also known as infinity strips, possess but one boundary and one continuous surface. For this project, I took advantage of these enigmatic properties to create two 3D paper sculptures that appeared both flowing and organic. Using a 5 x 5 inch piece of paper, I made two incisions and wrapped them upon the paper itself to create my first structure. For my second, I made one additional incision that I felt enhanced the form. I also included an outline created on AutoCAD that details the production of both forms. Experimenting with different shapes by twisting, taping, and re-taping felt nostalgic of my younger self, equipped with her safety scissors and construction paper, and it reminded me how fun it can be to work with tangible art forms!
